Editor’s Personal Picks: Accommodation Tips for Sendai

In response to inquiries regarding hotel recommendations and budget-friendly options, I have put together a personal "pick-up list" of accommodations around Sendai station to help you plan your stay. Please note that the Secretariat does not handle individual hotel reservations, so we kindly ask all participants to book directly through travel websites or hotel web sites.

While Sendai offers a great variety of business and city hotels, please be aware that guesthouses and hostels—specifically dormitory-style— are actually quite rare within the city center. If you are looking for more affordable or unique alternatives, there are several capsule hotels scattered around the downtown area.

For those who don't mind a short commute, I also recommend looking beyond the immediate vicinity of Sendai Station. Beautiful areas like Matsushima (one of Japan's three most scenic views) and Akiu Onsen (a famous hot spring village) are only about 30 to 60 minutes away by train or bus. These areas offer wonderful ryokans and hotels that could make your visit to ICNMTA2026 even more memorable. I hope this personal selection helps you find the perfect place to stay!
