Call for Abstracts
Abstract Submission Deadline has been extended to June 30 (Fri), 2023 (JST).
We encourage potential contributors to submit abstract(s) describing your work related to the conference topics. Each abstract should be submitted by June 16 (Fri), 30 (Fri), 2023 (JST). Submitted abstracts will be considered by the program committee, and if accepted, the decision of acceptance will be notified by e-mail by August 1 (Tue) 2023.
Once accepted, the author(s) can submit a manuscript to the peer-reviewed proceedings journal. See the Publication page for further details.
In submitting the abstract, student and early-career-scientist presenters can apply to the Student Award and Early Career Award, respectively as well as the Financial Support, whereas every presenter can apply to the Excellent Presentation Award.

Abstract preparation
Please prepare your abstract in pdf format, less than 1.5 MB in size. The length of each abstract is limited to one page in A4 size sheet. Please prepare your abstract using this template (Word docx) following instructions below (also in the template).
- Each abstract should be fitted within one A4 page (210 mm x 297 mm; avoid US letter), with left / right / top / bottom margins of 20 / 20 / 27 / 30 mm, respectively.
- The title should be typed in 12 pt boldface Times New Roman or compatible font and centered at the top of the page.
- Author(s) and affiliation(s) list should be in 10 pt Times New Roman or compatible font, followed by an e-mail address of the corresponding author, all of which centered below the title with one blank line. Underline the name of the presenter.
- The body text should be in two-column format (column spacing 8mm, i.e., each column width 81 mm) after one blank line. The body text, including references and figure/table if necessary, should be single-line spaced and in 10 pt Times New Roman or compatible font.
- As the abstracts will be distributed electronically, you may use color figures and tables. However, please be considerate of those who have difficulty in distinguishing colors and avoid relying solely on colors.
- Page numbers should NOT be included.
- Convert the finished file into PDF format using Adobe Acrobat or compatible software. Any other file types are NOT acceptable.
- The final PDF file must be smaller than or equal to 1.5 MB. If it is larger than 1.5 MB, try reducing the file size by Acrobat.
Submission
After finishing your abstract, please go to the abstract submission portal by clicking the button below. You can submit one abstract in one-time. In case one presenter submits multiple abstracts, please revisit the submission portal for the second abstract. The abstract submission portal is supported by the Japan Society of Vacuum and Surface Science (jvss) and provided on her website.
